Според обичая на 1 март посрещаме един от най-красивите и почитани български празници – Баба Марта. Така символично отбелязваме наближаването на пролетта, която свързваме все с хубави неща – здраве, любов, щастие, светлина. Пожелавам ви ги всички! Честита Баба Марта!

Baba Marta (Баба Марта, meaning Grandmother Martha in Bulgarian) is the name of a traditional Bulgarian custom, celebrated on March 1 each year, symbolizing the coming of the spring season. According to the tradition, The “Baba” is an old lady who’s quickly changing her mood. On March 1 Bulgarians wear and give “martenitsi” (referring to the month of March) as a mascot. Some people knit it, others stitch it. People make pompons, bracelets, tassels, and Pijo (male) and Penda (female) figures. In the past they’d spin the wool and dye it with herbs. Nowadays there is a variety of colours and modifications. As the legend goes the white embodies the purity and longevity and the red represents health. The two colours also symbolize salubrity. It’s a wonderful tradition celebrated like this only in Bulgaria! Generally people keep the martenitsa on their clothes or rolled around their wrists, until they see a stork and then they tie it on a tree for a good harvest. Baba Marta (Баба Марта veut dire Grand-mère Marta en bulgare) est le nom de la coutume bulgare traditionnelle, célébrée le 1er Mars, symbolisant l’arrivée du printemps. Selon la tradition, la “Baba” est une vieille dame qui change rapidement d'humeur. Le 1er mars tous les bulgares portent et offrent une « martenitsa » (qui fait référence au mois de mars), en guise de mascotte. Certains tricotent les martenitsi, d’autres les mailler ou les cousent. On fait des pompons, des bracelets, des glands et, bien sûr, les figurines de Pijo (mâle) et Pènda (femelle). A l’époque on employait de la laine pure, on la filait et la teignait à l’aide des herbes. Aujourd’hui il y a toute une variété de couleurs et de variantes. Selon la légende le blanc incarne la pureté et la longévité, le rouge – la santé. Tous les deux ensemble représentent la salubrité. C’est une tradition merveilleuse parce qu'elle est fêtée (ainsi) uniquement en Bulgarie. ! Généralement on garde les martenitsi sur les vêtements et enroulés sur les poignets jusqu’au jour où l’on voit une cigogne et puis on les attache aux arbres pour une récolte abondante. Le printemps s’associe aux bonnes choses – la santé, l’amour, le bonheur, le soleil. Je vous les souhaite tous !
